Alleyway’s 28th Annual Celebration of One Act Plays!

Alleyway Theatre’s BUFFALO QUICKIES, the 28th annual celebration of new one-act plays, will open April 11, 2019. It is the third presentation in the company’s 39th season serving Western New York by developing and producing new theatre works. Buffalo Quickies 2019 is generously sponsored by Jamey Quiram.

BUFFALO QUICKIES 2019 serves up eight delicious courses of one-act plays: seven are world premieres and includes the winner of the 2018 Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition. All eight playwrights are local to the Western New York Area.

The Newly Created “Playwrights Circle”: Alleyway Theatre has created a “Playwrights Circle.” Established in the fall of 2018, the collective seeks to nurture and develop local playwrights. Members include j. Snodrass, Bella Poynton, Mark C. Lloyd and Jennifer Tromble. The group collaborates in a workshop format to pursue script ideas, fine tune current work and support each other in their writing projects. The 2018-19 project challenged the Playwrights Circle to create new one act plays to be produced as part of Buffalo Quickies 2019. Thus, each Circle playwright is represented in Buffalo Quickies 2019.  Festival Director Joyce Stilson has selected the following menu of new short plays from over 280 scripts:
