101st Annual American Legion Department of New York American Legion Convention, Annual Auxiliary Convention & Annual SAL Convention

The Erie County American Legion will be hosting the 101st Annual American Legion Department of New York American Legion Convention, the 99th Annual Auxiliary Convention and the 45th Annual SAL Convention this summer from July 15th through July 20th in Downtown Buffalo! The Hyatt will serve as the American Legion headquarters, and the Buffalo Grand will serve as headquarters for the Auxiliary and the SAL. The convention sessions will be held at each headquarters hotel respectively.

The American Legion was founded at the conclusion of World War I in 1919, and is celebrating their 100th Anniversary as the largest wartime Veteran’s organization in the country. They are committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to fellow servicemembers and veterans.

On Friday July 19th, there will be a parade in Downtown Buffalo as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration. The parade will form in front of the Buffalo Convention Center on Franklin and West Genesee Streets, proceed north down Franklin, make a right turn on West Chippewa, right turn on Pearl Street, and march just past the Hyatt Hotel. The parade will form starting at 5:30p, and step off at 6:30pM. The parade will last approximately one hour, therefore concluding at 7:30p.
