Mayor Brown Announces Select Free Parking on “Black Friday” & Select Holiday Season Days

In proclaiming November 30, 2019 as “Small Business Saturday” in Buffalo, Mayor Byron W. Brown encouraged City residents and visitors to shop Buffalo’s many great commercial/retail districts on “Small Business Saturday” and throughout the holiday season. In celebration of the start of the shopping season, Mayor Brown also announced that shoppers can park free at metered on-street spots in retail districts citywide on “Black Friday”, November 29th, as well as at four City-owned parking lots. Free parking will also be offered at designated spots on additional select dates in December.

Mayor Brown stated, “Buffalo is open for business. As we continue to foster an inclusive and equitable City of Opportunity, we encourage residents and visitors to shop local and visit all the great retail stores – both big and small- that Buffalo has to offer. We have great shops and wonderful dining options in our City’s 20 shopping districts. Come celebrate the holidays in Buffalo. We look forward to seeing you this season.”

Joining Mayor Brown at today’s proclamation ceremony were small business owners from retail/commercial districts citywide, including the participating retailers in Mayor Brown’s 2019 Holiday Edition of Queen City Pop-Up. The 2019 Holiday Edition of Queen City Pop-Up is now underway at The Shops at Market Arcade, located at 617 Main Street, showcasing the following small business owners: Bearded Buffalo; The Black Bohemian; Blessings of the Bling; Buffalo Women’s Consortium; City of Light Publishing

Queen City Pop-Up is Downtown’s first pop-up retail program designed to encourage retail activity along Main Street by creating new “pop-up” shops that feature local retailers. The project activates empty storefronts by filling them with retailers on a short-term basis, free of charge.
