Outdoors at the Downtown Library: September/October 2021 is Presented by Just Buffalo Literary Center and the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library with support from the New York State Council on the Arts

Thursday, September 23rd: , 4:30p – 6p End of Summer Open Mic: Poems, stories, songs, plays, cheesy jokes: share your summer creations with us outdoors in the middle of downtown Buffalo! We’ll have a writing session to get things started if you want to share something fresh!

Thursday, September 30th, 4:30p – 6p Writing Workshop: Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us with Zanaya Hussain: Have you ever experienced censorship? This workshop, held during Banned Books Week, will invite participants to write in response, to and inspired by, banned books.

Thursday, October 7th, 4:30p – 6p Writing Workshop: Writing In Motion with Robin Jordan & WNY Book Arts Center: Make your own travel journal with WNY Book Arts Center and begin your own writing-in-motion practice. We’ll draw inspiration from each other, the work of upcoming BABEL author Aminatta Forna (The Window Seat: Notes from a Life in Motion) and writers in our community.

Thursday, October 21st, 4:30p – 6p Open Mic: Open Mic is a time for you to share any of your creations/thoughts with peers. Poems, stories, comics, video games, drawings: we want to hear all about what you are making, whether you share your piece or just tell us your plans. Are you currently inspired by music, art, books, film, or recent experiences? Share your inspirations with us!
