Metro Rail Update

NFTA will not single track this Monday, January 31st to Thursday, February 2nd as planned. Preparation work has been delayed due to snow and cold weather. Regular Metro Rail service will be in place until Sunday, February 6th when single tracking will run through Wednesday, February 9, 2022, as already scheduled, to extend new overhead catenary wires from the yard out to Main Street and connect them to the existing system. The Canalside Metro Rail station will be open during this work.

An additional work period has been scheduled for Monday, February 21st through Thursday, February 24th, also to extend new overhead catenary wires from the yard out to Main Street and connect them to the existing system. The Canalside Metro Rail station will be open.

If necessary, an additional work day will be scheduled for Sunday, February 13th to complete installation of the new catenary structure.

As with the previous work sessions, transfers between the surface section Metro Rail shuttle and underground service will continue at Fountain Plaza. 500 Block, Fountain Plaza and 600 Block automobile traffic will be modified to avoid conflict with Metro Rail trains traveling against traffic.
