
Buffalo & Erie County Public Library: Black History Month Celebration

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Central Branch at Lafayette Square will offer a variety of special programs, speakers, exhibits, and performances in celebration of Black History Month. Friday, February 11th at 12noon, representatives from the Buffalo African American Museum will be in attendance at the Ring of Knowledge and will feature speakers from the Michigan Street Baptist Church and the Nash House. The speakers will discuss the history and influence of these historic landmarks in our community. Saturday, February 12th at 1pm, Young Audiences of WNY will present their Second Saturday Family Program: Slave Songs. Renowned local jazz performer Van Taylor will perform and teach guests the songs meaningful to freedom seekers as they made their way to freedom. Tuesday, February 15th, the IMAGINE Buffalo Speaker Series will feature George Scott of the Colored Musicians Club. Programs are free and open-to-the-public.
