Buffalo Black Business Month

In recognition of National Black Business Month, The City of Buffalo and the Office of Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion, in partnership with M&T Bank, will launch a new Buy Black Buffalo program. Buy Black Buffalo is a city initiative to encourage residents to shop locally with Black-owned businesses. Western New York is invite Black-owned businesses in The City of Buffalo that are registered with Buy Black Buffalo to participate!

Buy Black Buffalo’s first Buffalo Black Business Month initiative will promote competitive shopping with Black-owned businesses in Buffalo, allowing residents a chance to win a grand prize. Here’s how it works:

Participating businesses will receive a Buy Black Buffalo packet by mail with stamp cards, stickers, a display sign, and hand cards. Then, shoppers will visit participating stores and request a Buffalo Black Business Month stamp card. Whenever a shopper spends a minimum of $25 at your Black-owned business, you will place a sticker on their stamp card. Purchases made on Jefferson Avenue earn a double stamp. Once the shopper has acquired a minimum of $250 in accumulated stickers, they qualify to enter a raffle for a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Buffalo Bills home opener or a Greg Rousseau jersey. The program runs through August 27th. The raffle winners will be selected and announced on August 28th at the Beau Fleuve Music and Arts Celebration.

Since participating in Buy Black Buffalo programs, businesses have reported increased customer traffic and profits. In addition to Buffalo Black Business Month, business owners can participate in weekly events hosted by The Exchange at Beverly Gray and M&T Bank for financial mentorship and programs.
