Bill Bellamy

Bill Bellamy, a Newark native, launched his comedy career while at Rutgers and quickly rose to prominence with his breakout appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, where he coined the term “Booty Call.” From there, he became a fixture on MTV as one of its first VJs, later hosting his own show and transitioning into film and television with roles in Love Jones, How to Be a Player, Any Given Sunday, and The Brothers. Alongside acting, Bellamy built a successful stand-up career with multiple hit Showtime specials (Booty Call, Crazy Sexy Dirty, Ladies Night Out) and national tours, while also serving as a host on shows like Last Comic Standing, Who’s Got Jokes?, and Let’s Ask America. His TV credits include recurring and guest roles on Insecure, Meet the Browns, Castle, and Royal Pains, and he’s co-starred in projects like The Bounce Back. A multi-hyphenate entertainer, Bellamy has remained a versatile presence in comedy, film, and television, all while balancing family life in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
