Shea’s Performing Arts Center, in collaboration with Los Artistas del Barrio Buffalo, is proud to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) by announcing the Barrio Poetry Slam!
The free event will take place on Thursday, October 9th from7-10pm at the new Shea’s 710 Theatre Cabaret Lounge. The Barrio Poetry Slam! will showcase original works rooted in storytelling and cultural pride.
The evening will also include featured poet Yamilla Tate, DJ cPerfect spinning beats, Dr. Michele Agosto serving as host, and plenty of community spirit as we honor Hispanic Heritage Month through spoken word, storytelling, and connection. Step up to the mic, feel the rhythm of the words, and compete for prizes in a high-energy experience that spotlights creativity and culture. This is more than a slam, it’s a celebration of cultura, comunidad, and the power of palabra (word). The Barrio Poetry Slam! is one of several Hispanic Heritage Month events featured by the Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York. For the full calendar of events, click here.
