Can’t Look Away: An Evening of Film & Conversation

June 25, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join Community Health Speaks and the Department of Psychiatry for an evening of film and conversation at the Jacobs School on Wednesday, June 25th. Can’t Look Away is a documentary that investigates the dark side of social media and the devastating impact it has on young users. Directed by Matthew O’Neill and Perri Peltz and based on investigative reporting by Bloomberg’s Olivia Carville, the film follows families who are fighting for justice and reform in the face of profound personal tragedy.

Following the screening, a discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Ben Rein, a neuroscientist and science communicator, and Dr. Sourav Sengupta, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, who will explore the science, ethics, and emotional realities surrounding screentime, youth mental health, and digital safety.

This free event is open to parents, educators, students, and community members.

Warning: This film shows graphic content that may be disturbing for children and those suffering from emotional distress.
