Grateful Shred

After a rapid rise from obscurity to national touring success, Los Angeles-based Grateful Shred has carved out a unique space in the Grateful Dead universe. Featuring Dan Horne, Austin McCutchen, and keyboardist Adam MacDougall, the band channels the Dead’s signature vibe with laid-back harmonies, wide-open guitar tones, choogling rhythms, and tripped-out solos. Their breakout moment came in 2017 with the viral “Busted at the Bowl” video, where an impromptu parking lot jam outside a Dead & Company show at the Hollywood Bowl was shut down by police—instantly earning them street cred and a devoted following.
