Planting and Caring for Trees: Everything you Need to Know

ReTree WNY will host a three-hour tree planting course at Compass East at 425 Michigan Street this Saturday, October 22nd from 9am through 12noon. The workshop is free and open-to-the-public. Three trees will be planted in nearby JFK Park (114 Hickory Street) at the conclusion of the workshop. Registration recommended by clicking here.

The workshop schedule is as follows:

9:15am: Benefits of Trees
9:30am: Volunteering with Re-Tree
9:40am: Tree Biology w/ Cornell Cooperative Extension
10:10am: Caring for Trees
10:40am: How to plant, review of municipal ordinances and trees
11:10am:  Get involved (upcoming plantings)

Support for this training is provided by EC200, Erie County, the Baird Foundation, Cornell Cooperative, and the Buffalo Green Fund./Re-Tree. Trees and watering bags courtesy of Trautman Associates. Beyond learning, attendees receive a complimentary membership to the University Heights Tool Library and can request a free planting in the right of way in front of their house… all in partnership with the Baird Foundation and in celebration of Erie County’s Bicentennial.
