Revealed and Rediscovered: Vocális Chamber Choir

October 20, 2019 @ 4:00 pm

Vocális Chamber Choir opens its 18th season with Revealed and Rediscovered, a presentation of deeply moving and underrepresented choral music – past and present.  The concert will take place on Sunday, October 20th at 4p at the Pierce Arrow Museum, 263 Michigan Avenue, Buffalo. Tickets for the concert at the Pierce Arrow Museum include 3p entrance to the museum, and free parking in the museum lot.

“As we open our 18th season, we pay tribute to the great choral tradition that has come before, while also acknowledging underrepresented works, particularly the wonderful contributions of female composers throughout history,” says Vocális director, James Burritt.  “The program reveals lots of musical surprises. Something for everyone.”

Works by current and past female choral composers are featured, including Caroline Shaw, Abbie Betinis, Kate Rusby, Jocelyn Hagen, Amy Beach, Clara Schumann, Fanny Hensel, and Vittoria Aleotti.  Rediscovered madrigals, spirituals, and folksongs are also included, featuring works by Randall Thompson, Jean Berger, Earl George and Pablo Casals. Tickets for both performances are available at the door, one hour before the program, $15 for adults; $10 for students. Vocális Chamber Choir is supported in part with cultural funding from the 2018 adopted Erie County Budget, Mark C. Poloncarz, County Executive. For more information visit, www.vocalischamberchoir.org.
