DESCRIPTION:The Buffalo Maritime Center is proud to announce the Canal Boat Commencement Weekend: Two Events That Will Initiate the Erie Canal Packet Boat Project at the newly constructed Longshed at Canalside in Buffalo. This event will take place Friday\, October 16th from 5:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday\, October 17th from 11am-5:pm \nThe Canal Boat Commencement Weekend is made up of a First Look and the Public Opening of the Longshed that will mark the official beginning of Buffalo Maritime Center’s historic construction of the Erie Canal Packet Boat\, “Seneca Chief.” Throughout the project\, they are inviting the public to be a part of history by observing and helping to build a replica of this 73’ long vessel\, the very boat that Gov. DeWitt Clinton traveled on in 1825 to open the Erie Canal. \nClick here\, for more information.
